  3. Back in the early 1990’s I served at St. Paul’s in Weirton and came to know your father. He was very kind and actually came to the viewing when my uncle died in 1993. I still have the missionary style library desk that he gave to me as a token of appreciation for being attentive when he was grieving the loss of your mother. I have thought of him often and have remembered him in my prayers. I shall now hold you all in my prayers as you mourn your loss.

  4. Dear Gretchen, Robert, Christopher, and Erika, I was so sorry to hear of dear Billy’s passing. As I think about him today, my brightest memory of him is of an afternoon on the porch in my mother’s garden. I can still see him across the table, always so patient and cheerful, always with a sparkle in his eye and some interesting topic of conversation. That sunny day we were all eating strawberry shortcake, and I think he enjoyed it,too! I will be keeping you in my prayers. Nick sends his condolences.

  5. Dear Gretchen: You are in our hearts and prayers. I know how special Billy was to you. No daughter could do more. Billy adored you and it was so obvious when we celebrated his 100th! The cakes you made to spell out 100 were the highlight of the party! Sam and I will miss him. He had such poise and charm and a winsome smile…always the gentleman. His presence in our lives made a lasting impression. May God Bless you and keep you in His Tender, Loving Care. Ella and Sam (your next-door neighbors who are blessed to have you and Robert as good and faithful friends.)

Our hearts hold so many wonderful memories, and we will smile when we think of Billy. Until we all one day meet again. Many blessings to you and much love too! Barbie and Gary

  9. Dear Gretchen and Family, It meant a great deal to me to see you again and express my sympathy on the death of your father. He was a true gentleman and was kind to us as teenagersand later in life. How remarkable and blessed to live so long and so well. Would love to hear from you again. My e/mail is included. 10. Dear Gretchen and family, During family visits with my sister and brother-in-law, Barbie and Gary,I had the opportunity to meet their beloved neighbor, Billy. I enjoyed his witty conversations and company during dinner gatherings and outdoor barbecues. How blessed we all were to have been graced by God with his presence and remarkable life all of his 102 plus years. He will be missed by all. ~ Betty

  11. Dear Gretchen, A short story that speaks to the kindness and gentleness of your father: I attended first grade at Sacred Heart Church and my parents owned a restaurant on Main Street near your father’s office. After school I’d walk to the restaurant to wait for a ride home. I would regularly see you father there taking an afternoon coffee break. He and I would share a booth and talk about all matter of things interesting to a six-year old. One day he asked if I knew how to write my name. I said no; explaining that we hadn’t gotten that far in school yet. Your father then taught me how to draw my name — draw because I didn’t know the alphabet yet. It’s a memory that I treasure. God Bless Al

  12. Dear Gretchen and Family- As I mentioned at the funeral home, your father was a wonderful gentleman and a delightful person who became a speical friend…I am so blessed to have shared a few moments in his life…God Bless you. You were the joy of his life and he adored you!!! (as you know) May God comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, The Stout Family
