William Torbich
August 9, 1927 ~ November 30, 2004
William Torbich, 77, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the Inn at Wyngate in Weirton. Born August 9, 1927 in Weirton, he was the son of the late Mike and Mary Derosky Torbich. William was also preceded in death by his brother John Torbich and sister Ann Bolock.
After 35 years of service, William retired from the Transportation Department of Weirton Steel where he worked as an engineer. William served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, VFW Post 2716, American Legion Post 274 and was the Historian for the World War II Last Man’s Club.
William’s survivors include his wife Mary Ann Lazuka Torbich of Weirton; daughter Patricia Richard and her husband Mike of Evans City, PA; brother Albert Torbich of Colliers, WV; sisters Agnes Sunderson of Lake Placid, NY and Dorothy Gera of Frackville, PA; and two granddaughters, Natalie and Sarah Richard.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00AM on Saturday with Father Ed Lucas presiding. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery where military services will be conducted by the VFW Firing Squad and the Evert Maki American Legion Post 10.
