William Walter Mitchell

William Walter Mitchell, 100, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 in the Woodland Hills Nursing Home. He was born October 12, 1915 in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Joshua and Anna Mitchell. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy M. Dembeck Mitchell, son William E. Mitchell, daughter Sheila A. Mitchell, grandson Martin A. Himmelrick, a brother and two sisters.
Mr. Mitchell was a graduate of John Hopkins University with a degree in chemical engineering. He retired from the Weirton Steel Steubenville plant where he served as a General Foreman. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Steubenville, OH. William always enjoyed golfing, jogging and gardening.
William is survived by his daughter Elaine (Gerald) Himmelrick of Weirton and grandchildren Michele (Terry) Fraley of Florida; Mark A Himmelrick of Colorado Springs, CO; William H. Mitchell and Andrew Mitchell both of Charleston, WV.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 until the 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.
