Wilma Teresa Tichich Watz of Fayetteville, Pa. passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
Wilma was born in Weirton on September 22, 1930, the daughter of the late Mildred and Barney Ticich. She is also preceded in death by her brother Bernard. She is survived by her loving son John Alan Watz and brother Gene Ticich.
After graduating from Weir High, she was employed by the Weirton Police Department where she met her future husband Robert, a Weirton police officer. They were married for 67 years until Robert’s passing on June 5, 2017. In pursuit of their goals and dreams for a fulfilling life, the couple moved to Morgantown. While her husband completed his studies at West Virginia University’s School of Pharmacy, Wilma contributed to their financial needs by working as a typist for student term papers and university faculty. In later years, she volunteered her time as an administrator in support of various catholic schools in West Caldwell, New Jersey, and Milford, Pennsylvania.
Wilma, as an energetic and creative homemaker, worked endlessly to provide a complete and rewarding lifestyle for her family. She took pride in creating delicious meals from ‘scratch’, and never forgot her roots and Croatian heritage Wilma is remembered as a thoughtful person to so many relatives and friends, and gave generously to those in need. Wilma and Bob were grateful for their retirement years in Fayetteville, enjoying the simple benefits of country living, and experiencing many happy times as members of the prestigious Penn National Club.
A private interment ceremony was held at St. Ignatius RCC, Orrtanna, Pa.
