Betty Jo Coen, 82, of Powell, OH, formerly of Weirton, WV, passed away Sunday September 16, 2012 in Dublin, OH. Betty was born on August 17, 1930 in Monongahela, PA to the late Felix and Christine "Turnbull" Henrion. She was also preceded in death by her two siblings, Mary Winebrenner and Bobby Henrion. In the prime of her life, Betty was a dedicated and tireless volunteer in the Tri State area. She was actively involved with both the local and state chapters of the Women's Club, where she served non consecutive terms as President of both. She was also a very active participant in Friends of West Virginia Northern Community College. In 1994, Betty was honored by the organization as an Outstanding Citizen for her work as a volunteer. Later, Betty, along with her husband, Bob, became actively involved with the Weirton Lion's Club, where she served as Treasurr and gave countless hours of her time becoming a fixture at all Lion's Club events. Her proudest moments though, were those she gave to the Weirton Medical Auxilliary. Whether she was stocking the gift shop, comforting families at the Same Day Surgery Desk, or answering 3 phones at a time on the switchboard, her presence was constant. In 2003 Betty was recognized as a lifetime Auxiliary member with over 11, 000 service hours. Her dedication also brought her to the state level were she served as West Virginia State Hospital Auxiliary President from 1994 to 1996. Betty is survived by her husband, Bob Coen, with whom she recently celebrated 65 years of marriage; her three daughters, Sharon (Chuck) Henry of Wellsburg, WV, Judie (Jim) Binder of Winter Garden, FL, and Marijo (Pat) McCune of Powell, OH; her grandchildren, Steven, Sara and Matt Henry, Aaron (Deanna) and Acacia Vierbicky, and Annie and Jimmy McCune; and two great grandchildren, Trey Henry and Aralyn Vierbicky. Friends and Relatives will be received 1-3 & 6-8 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Friday at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Rev. Fr. Larry Dorsch will preside. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Steubenville, OH. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to the Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary 601 Colliers Way Weirton, WV 26062

She always made of point of talking to me when she saw me heading towards the gift shop.
