Brenda Sue Koontz

Brenda Sue Koontz of Weirton passed away unexpectedly in her home on July 8, 2021; she was 53 years old. She was born in Berlin, Germany, on August 1, 1967, one of four children born to the late Aaron and Gerda Schmidt Koontz. Brenda enjoyed going to church and worshipping the Lord. She took great joy in recently being baptized and committing to her relationship with her Lord. She attended the Church of Christ, where she was ministered to by Brian Games and Brian Renk. Her favorite interests were collecting glass dolphins and angels, hunting, and being great with a bow and arrow. In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Koontz. Cherishing her memories are her four children, the oldest son David Soyka, and the youngest son Donald Soyka, oldest daughter Michelle Soyka, and the youngest daughter Jennifer Bunner with her husband, Jeff Bunner. Brenda’s surviving siblings are her brother Gene Koontz, sister Debbie Overly, with her husband, Domer Overly. In addition, Brenda has eight grandchildren with who she enjoyed holidays and visiting. She spent the last seventeen years of her life living with her partner, Roger Bunner. Brenda’s family’s request for cremation has been honored, and her remains will be passed along as a keepsake. No services are planned at this time; however, her last parting wish is to have a portion of her remaining ashes placed into the ocean, which she admired dearly. Share tributes and memories at www.
