Brian Alan Otey, 53, formerly of Weirton, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2019 in New York City. He was born on December 20, 1965 in Steubenville, OH, a son of Helen (Smogonovich) Otey and the late Harold Otey. A Roman Catholic by faith, he was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in New York City. Brian graduated from Brooke High School in 1984 and enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany. After leaving the Army, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Steubenville, then received his law degree from West Virginia University. Brian was employed by Citigroup in New York City as a corporate tax attorney. He was an avid golfer, reader and student of history. He is survived by his wife Patricia Coslello Otey; mother Helen (Smogonovich) Otey; brother Harold “Butch” Otey and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins across the country. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on August 3, 2019 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Father Anthony G. Thurston will officiate.   3. My deepest condolences to all of Brian’s family and friends. I grew up a few houses away from Brian, and have nothing but fond memories of him. I’ll always remember the daily buss ride to Edgewood Middle School, and eating Slim Jims on the way. He got me hooked on those things. He was always in good spirits, and I am saddened to hear of this loss…
