Callie Kapiris, 84, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born May 21, 1922 in Weirton, daughter of the late Kostadinos and Epistimi (Tsapis) Angelo. Callie was also preceded in death by her husband George December 18, 2003; son James; brothers Stanley and James Angelo; sister Fotine Frangias and grandson Angelo Kyle Kapiris. Callie was a homemaker and a member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Daughters of Penelope Pallas Athene Chapter #276, Kardamelian Society and All Saints Senior Citizens. Callie loved spending time with her family and many friends. She was a very passionate woman who participated in various church fund-raisers, crocheting, baking, gardening, traveling, but her fondest pastime was shopping...shopping and more shopping. Callie’s survivors include her children Irene Kapiris of Ramrod Key, FL; Patricia “Trish” Kapiris of Weirton; Carolyn “Cookie” Thorne (Jim) of Burgettstown, PA and Gus Kapiris of Chester, WV; sisters Athena Frangos of Weirton and Goldie Kakos of New Jersey; grandchildren Yeorgo Kapiris, Christopher and Gust Thorne and great grandson Angelo C. Kapiris; and five Godchildren. Callie also leaves a loving family of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends Sunday 1-6PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where the Trisigion Service will be held at 5:30PM. Additional visitation will be Monday from 10 until the 11AM funeral services at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Reverend Father Frank Milanese will officiate. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Benevolent Fund or All Saints Senior Citizens, 3528 West Street, Weirton, WV 26062 or Hancock County Sheltered Workshop, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062. For as much time I spent with Gusty at the house when we were growing up, your mom treated me as one of her own. She could never get me to eat the stuffed grape leaves but she had no problem getting me to gooble down her cookies, easter bread and other goodies!! God Bless
