charles king, sr.
Charles “Charlie” King, Sr., 78, of Weirton, died Friday, August 9, 2002 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born February 5, 1924 in Curtin, West Virginia, the son of the late William C. and Georgie Lee Waybright King. For over 30 years, Charles was a bus driver for Starvaggi Industries. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps, participating in the European and African campaign. Charles is survived by his wife, Janice K. Glover King. They were married on January 15, 1955. Charles is also survived by one daughter, Carole (John) Sullivan of Falls Church, Virginia; two sons, Charles C. (Patricia) King, Jr. of Reston, Virginia, and Russell (Donna) King of Weirton; two grandsons, Ryan King of Weirton, and Jack Sullivan of Falls Church, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, from 1–3 PM and 7–9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Additional visitation will be held on Monday from 9 AM until time of services at 10 AM at the First Church of the Nazarene, 475 Colliers Way, Weirton. Rev. Dana Snodgrass will officiate. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where military services will be performed by the American Legion Post 10, V.F.W. #2716, and the Tri-State Marine Corps. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Brooke-Hancock County Veterans Memorial Inc., P.O. Box 462, Weirton, WV 26062.
