Charles J. (Chuck) Vincent, 84, of Weirton died Thursday, December 6, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on August 2, 1917 in McDonald, Pa, son of the late Charles and Martha Vincent. At age three he moved to the Panama Canal Zone and graduated from high school in Balboa, CZ. He played the cello and violin and was on the high school swim team. He graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in metallurgical engineering. His college activities included the swim team and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. In 1940 he joined Weirton Steel and during World War II he served in the US Navy. He began his career in Weirton as assistant to the chief metallurgist and later was named chief inspector of the 54 inch Strip Steel Department. In 1956 he was promoted to assistant manager-service and inspection. In 1970 he was named assistant vice president of the Quality Control Department and in 1975 he became Vice President of Quality Control and Senior Vice President in charge of day-to-day operations, until his retirement in May of 1983. He served as President of the Fort Steuben Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was Weirton United Way Campaign Chairman in 1981. He received the “Weirton Spirit” award presented annually by the Weirton Steel MC. He was also a member of the American Iron and Steel Institute, Northern Panhandle Shrine Club, the Wheeling Royal Order of Jesters, Scottish Rite of Freemasonary, The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Osiris Temple AAONMS of Wheeling, Weirton Lodge 1801 of Elks and Williams Country Club. He is survived by his wife Audrey Leach RobinsonVincent, daughter Sue Krukowski and granddaughter Erin Oboryshko. In addition he is also survived by step-daughters Sally Robinson of Homestead, Florida and Susan (Jerry) Carrie of Pass Christian, Mississippi, step grandchildren Tammy (Charles) Dougherty, Scott (Wendy) Blankenship and Doug Blankenship, step great-grandchildren Lacey Cottrill, Charlie Cottrill and Kara Blankenship. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Britton Vincent. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on December 27, 2001 at 11:00AM at Cove United Presbyterian Church.   1. Dear Sue and Family, We were so deeply sorry to hear of Chuck’s death. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Chuck was such a kind and thoughtful neighbor to Kay, and a wonderful “adopted” grandfather to Robb. He never failed to remember Robb at Christmas, even after he went off to college.
