Charles M. Jeffers of Weirton, WV, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh after a lengthy illness. He was born January 25, 1933 in Glencoe, OH, the son of the late Everett and Lustie Jane (Rowand) Jeffers. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Harry, Sias and Phillip Jeffers, Gladys May, Margarette Day, Helen Vrotros, Nancy Pyle and Sanford Jeffers. With 40 years of service, Charles retired from Weirton Steel. He was a member of the Wellsburg United Methodist Church, the church choir, the Tri-State Harmonizers Barbershop Choir, Weirton Masonic Lodge 171, Scottish Rite, American Legion and Osiris Shriners where he served as a driver for crippled children. He also served his nation in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Rose (Fodor) Jeffers of Weirton, whom he married June 23, 1956; loving son Bryan Jeffers of Pittsburgh, PA; sisters Bernice Maloney of Glencoe, OH and Francis Clark of Moundsville, WV and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his cherished dog, Jeri. Friends and family will be received Saturday 6-8PM and Sunday 1-3 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV where funeral services will be conducted 1PM Monday with Reverend Karen Stinespring officiating. Military services will be conducted at the funeral home by the American Legion Post 10 and the Weirton Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Warnock Cemetery, Warnock, OH.
