christine dorich
With broken hearts, the daughters of Christine Marie Segamiglio Dorich announce that Chris passed from this world on January 1, 2021. She is with our Lord, where our dad and many friends and family members extend a welcoming embrace, and where she is finally free of the paralysis that held her captive these many years. Christine was born to Rocco and Antoinette Marie Segamiglio on June 30, 1934, in Steubenville, Ohio. She was the only child of seven to survive. Her mother passed when she was a very young girl. She was raised by her dad living much of her early years with the Thomaselli Family and her Tzia Annie DiGirolamo and cousins. She graduated from Catholic Central High. After graduation, she began a career as a telephone operator at C&P Telephone, a Bell Atlantic Company in Weirton, WV. Her entire life was enriched by a great group of girlfriends, many cousins and classmates whom she stayed close to all her life. She married Stephen Joseph Dorich on May 7, 1960, and they built a home in Weirton where they raised their three daughters. Throughout, Christine was an avid volunteer for many organizations supporting church, school, and local community activities. She supported Steve's many election campaigns for council and mayor. She was the consummate hostess. She loved having card club with her girlfriends or having cousins over to make fresh homemade pasta. You could stop by on any holiday and enjoy great food and storytelling or drop in at many outdoor summer events where they roasted lamb and chickens, serving family and friends throughout the day under tents. Her career and passion was working as a secretary at St. Paul’s Church and its Cemetary Office supporting their many priests and the Catholic community for nearly 50 years. One of the more fascinating times in her life was discovering members of the Segamiglio family from Pescara, Italy. She was thrilled to see Vatican City and visiting their village to see the home where her father was born, attend weddings, and witness a more humble way of life. She cherished those times and their hospitality. Chris was always there for her daughters, with support, encouragement, and understanding. Having her Masterpiece late in life kept her young and involved. She savored witnessing her daughters build their lives, careers, and have families of their own. They kept her busy traveling to Florida, Texas, the Farm in PA, Maryland and Washington D.C. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren, Nicholas, Rocco, and Ely. She doted on them with her unconditional love, wisdom, and epic pride. Her life took a turn upon Steve's death in April of 2005. She continued to work full time. Just 18 months later, she survived a debilitating stroke that left her entire right side paralyzed. Christine is survived by her three daughters and their families: Annette and husband Christopher and their sons, Nicholas and Rocco; Kristen and husband Alan; and Annmarie and husband Elijohn and their son Ely Stephen. Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, private family services will be live-streamed on the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home Facebook Page at 2 PM Friday, January 8, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the incredible staff at Weirton Geriatric Center and at Valley Hospice whose tireless and loving efforts provided comfort to Christine as well as to her family. We encourage you to share tributes and memorable stories at www.grecohertnick.com.

  21. Dear Annette, Kristen and Annmarie, Bob and I are so deeply sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. Before she had her stroke she would always reminisce with Bob and I about her growing up in their home. She would tell how she helped Vera raise Bobby and Ritchie and how she thought of them as brothers. You could she the love in her eyes with every story she told. I remember her and your dad and only two girls at our wedding, such happy times. When Chris was in the cottages and we could still visit we would take her pictures and she’d cry as she remembered and tried to tell us all about what you three were up to and fill us in about family. We visited her in the geriatric center but she could hardly speak to us and it broke our hearts because she tried so hard. She was an angel and I know how you all will miss her. But she is no longer suffering and is talking and running free. We were blessed to know her and especially Bob to have such a wonderful big sister. We are living in California now. We left Weirton in November, but our hearts are with you and our prayers. We loved your mom. May she Rest In Peace and her memory be eternal.

  22. We are so sorry. Much love and peace to you Annmarie, Kristen and Annette and all of your families. We just finished watching the beautiful photo montage. ♥️

  23. Chris touched so many lives, she will never be forgotten. For me, Chris was kind, compassionate, caring and oh so funny! Her sense of humor certainly got her through…… the good times and the not so good times. Her determination to overcome her disabilities after her stroke, was inspiring. I will always treasure my time that I spent with her. Eternal rest Grant unto her Lord, and may perpetual light shine on Chris. May she rest in peace. You all are in my prayers❤ Cindy Oliver

  24. Our deepest condolences to your family. Chris always had a smile and a nice word to say. She was close to our family and was especially kind and supportive to me when I had the restaurant. We would talk recipes and about visiting Giulianova, about 50 miles from Scafa where my Nonna was born. Your dad would sit and listen. Even though we’ve been gone from Weirton many years I’d still see her at church during visits, always with a smile and a hug. I know you will all miss the classic Italian mother and grandmother she was. Tim and Michelle Grossi

  25. Annette, Kristen, Annmarie and families, my deepest sympathy for the loss of “Annette’s Mom” from back in the St Paul’s school-days. She was such a nice person with an engaging smile and I often recalled her many kindnesses shown us “kids” even over these many years. Requiescat in pace et in amore…

  26. Deepest sympathy to the family. Fond memories of Chris and Steve ( “Juiceman”) during our childrens years at Madonna. She had a smile for everyone.

  27. Chris and I had gone from 1st grade at St. Paul’s to Catholic Central Class of 1953. May her soul Rest In Peace. My deepest sympathy to the remaining family members 🙏

  28. Dear Annette, Kristen and Annmarie, Your mom was an angel come down from heaven! I’m so sorry to hear of her passing, and send you my deepest sympathies. RIP, Mrs. D.
