Debbie Lynne Bennett, 64, of Weirton, WV, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Weirton Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones. She was a beloved daughter, mother and grandmother. Born December 25, 1950 In Ellwood City, PA, she was a daughter of Mildred Blough of Ellwood City, PA and the late Clarence Christie. She is also preceded in death by her step-father Edward Blough, aunt Nancy Kiefel, uncle Charles Howard and grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Clyde Christie and Mr. & Mrs. Curlis Howard. Debbie graduated from Riverside High School in Elwood City and attended Slippery Rock College where she graduated with a Masters Degree in Reading. She retired from Hancock County Schools where she taught for over 35 years at Oak Glen High School, Jefferson Elementary, Marland Heights Elementary, Cove Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Broadview Elementary and Weirton Elementary Schools. Debbie was a kind and loving person. She was very proud of her sons and grandchildren. She devoted her life to helping others through her teaching. She tried to instill her love of reading in all of her students. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her mother, Debbie is survived by her sons Christopher (Heather) Bennett of Jacksonville, NC and Colin Bennett of Weirton; five grandchildren Nathaniel, Aden and Cody Bennett and Katelyn and Ashley Peters; brothers Charles (Sandy) Christie of Holdrege, NE and Kevin Christie of Ellwood City, PA; sisters Karen (Jim) Fogel of Ellwood City, PA and Melinda (Steve) Guzo of New Brighton, PA and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 until the 8PM funeral service at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
