donald tordolino
Donald W. Tordolino, 63 of Avon, OH and Naples, FL, formerly of Weirton, WV, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010 at his home following a 15 year battle with cancer. Don was born September 26, 1946 in Steubenville, Ohio. He was raised in Weirton, WV and had lived in Concord, OH before moving to Naples in 2003. Don began spending winters in Naples and returned to Avon during the summer months. Don graduated from Madonna High School in Weirton, West Virginia in 1964 and graduated from West Virginia University. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, working as a payroll clerk. He had a 25 year career as a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch and then Wells Fargo Advisors, formerly Wachovia Securities, in Willoughby, OH. Don was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Avon and also attended Celebration Beach Church in Naples. He enjoyed spending leisure time fishing, golfing, walking, sailing Lake Erie and watching any sport that involved a ball. Don is survived by his wife Janet (Godec) whom he married, November 19, 2005 in Naples, Florida; stepdaughter Stacey Gooding; brother Thomas Tordolino; mother-in-law Eleanor Godec; sister-in-law Judy De Frank (Joseph) and brother-in-law Ronald Godec. He is preceded in death by his parents Wede A. and Josephine (Codrea) Tordolino. Friends were received at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Rd. Avon on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. A prayer service was held be at the Funeral Home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church , 33601 Detroit Rd., Avon. The Father Gerard Gonda presided. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon. In honor of Don, Mass will be celebrated 11AM, Sunday, January 16, 2011 at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV. Memorial contributions may be forwarded to the Hospice of Cleveland Clinic, 6801 Brecksville Road, Suite 10, Independence, Ohio 44131.
