Dorothy Thomas was born on July 2, 1935, in Weirton, WV, to Pericles (Pete) Kallos and Euprepia (Pearl) Kallos. Dorothy grew up in Weirton, with a brother John, and a sister Mary. She graduated from Weir High School in 1953, and later, received her Associates Degree, in Accounting, from the Steubenville Business College. In the mid 1950’s she was employed in the payroll department at Weirton Steel. On November 8, 1957, she married David L. Thomas. Shortly after they were married David was called to serve active duty for his country, and was stationed in Korea and Japan for 14 months. During this time, Dorothy worked in the Legislature’s Parlimentarian Office in Charleston, WV, and was an attaché for then Delegate Callie Tsapis. Her husband Dave was employed as an engineer in the Weirton Steel Transportation Department. On October 29, 1988 their son David married Joanne Trzaskoma, and together they have two daughters, Marisa and Lauren. Dorothy was a doting Yia Yia to her two beloved granddaughters, and received the most pleasure in spoiling them. She was a wonderful cook who loved preparing Greek dishes and pastries for her family. Her hobbies included making crafts such as needlepoint, crocheting, and doll making that she shared with her family and friends. She enjoyed her many trips with her husband to visit family in Kos, Greece, where she had a Godson, Evangelo Mouzourakis, and her cousin, Irene Svinos. 7. Our condolences to you, Dave, son and all the family. Dorothy and I were childhood friends sharing many childhood escapades, we were also classmates and the last time I saw her was at our 50th Class Reunion in June. She was so excited about all her trips to Greece. She will be missed by everyone that knew her, she was caring and very fun loving, just a super person. May she have everlasting peace. Sandra and Sam Robbins

  8. It has been many years since Dorothy and I knew each other, but I celebrate her life along with her family and will miss knowing that she is near.

  9. You have my deepest sympathy. Dorothy was a charming lady and friend to all she met. She greeted all with a friendly smile and with a warm heart, cared very much about the people who touched her life.

  10. Dorothy was a friend who would cheer when the whole world booed; dance when you got good news; and cry when you cried too. She will be missed.

  11. Dorothy —Yia Yia, outstanding citizen, Boss of the Year, wife, mother, friend. Dorothy accomplished volumes with the same attributes she had in high school — probably even earlier. Her presence emanated a larger than life ambiance. Dorothy lit up a room with her luminous smile, the rest of us never always knew why she was so happy — until we figured out that she was happy “just because’. Part of that was her Greek heritage, the rest, just vintage Dorothy. At the 50th Weir High Reunion, she was all over the place, even when not standing next to you. And no one, ever, could wear a red dress like Dorothy. Pizazz, that’s what it was –and that will never leave us. Dave, you and your family feel a great loss, a deep well of sorrow, but you have so much that will remain in your hearts and minds for all eternity. God Bless You. You and Dorothy are in my prayers.
