elizabeth nagy
Elizabeth Jean Nagy of Weirton passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021, at the Weirton Geriatric Center; She was 93 years old. Born May 9, 1927, in Johnstown, PA., Elizabeth was the fourth child of five born to John and Therese Spino Magnone. Elizabeth was a self-employed hairdresser in the Weirton area for over 50 years. She was a faithful member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, always exhibiting her faith through her actions. Her family was everything to her. Her children and grandchildren were at the center of her world, Elizabeth was always ready to put a smile on their face and a warm memory in their heart. Her daughter Josette remembers when her brother Joey was receiving treatments in Lynn, Massachusetts, her parents would fly once a week for nine months to make sure Joey knew the love and devotion they had for him. She went on to say that her mother was even-tempered with everyone, always going along and making sure that the family had everything they needed. Elizabeth enjoyed playing cards with the girls and golfing at Williams Country Club. When it came time for Elizabeth to give up driving because of her eyesight, her friends were upset because she was always the one who drove; a comment was uttered by one of her friends, “Go get another eye doctor.” Some of her famous one-liners and quotes that were near and dear to her heart were, “Drastically” and “They do that in Hollywood” and “If the “Inquire” printed it, it must be true.” In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Nagy, who passed on September 2, 1990, her daughter, Jolene Rocchio, brothers Pat and Joe Magnone, sisters Elaine Sobeck, Clara Wilson, and Caroline Nosel. She will be remembered with love by her son Joey Nagy of Weirton, daughter Josette (Mark) Manley, of Weirton, grandchildren Frank and Domonique Rocchio, Nichole (Jim) Felouzis, Robert (Ann Marie) Busick, great-grandchildren Mila Felouzis and Robert “Robbie” Busick, and son-in-law Frank “Gucho” Rocchio. A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Fr. Anthony G. Thurston will preside. Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to the Hancock County Animal Shelter, 715 Gas Valley Road, New Cumberland, WV 26047, or The Hancock County Sheltered Workshop, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave, Weirton, WV 26062. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Nagy’s family; she was one of the sweetest, kindest, most sincere ladies I have known, always smiling & so pleasant. She was a joy to know, and too nice to ever forget. May she Rest in Peace. Sincerely, Marlene Runkel

  2. Dear Josette and Joey and families, Please accept our heartfelt sympathy in the death of Liz. Liz was a happy person whom we all enjoyed playing bridge with. I loved coming to the shop for haircuts and talking with her. Knowing her for about 50 years and what all she and your dad went through she had a strong constitution and a will to get things done for Joey. Enjoy the loving memories that I know you must have. That would give her the most joy. May she rest in peace. Jim and Mary Lou Bonaventura

  3. Our deepest sympathy to Josette and family. I remember coming to your Mom to get my first “swim” cut. I was not a fan, it was so short. Lol. She was so sweet and has passed that onto her family. My prayers fir you all through this devastating time. Carl and Donna Zahn and Sons.

  4. Aunt Liz is my Godmother. Her smiling eyes and the sound of her laughter was infectious. Her kitchen always had a pot of coffee brewing and all who entered her beauty shop on a very crowded Friday and Saturday morning were welcome to walk upstairs to get a cup of coffee. Aunt Liz and her sisters and brothers had a strong family bond that is passed to all the Magnone cousins. Family first! Deepest sympathy to my cousins Josette and Joe.

  5. So sorry to hear…my heart goes out to all her family! Loved that lady, she always made room for Toffee to sit with her! She will be missed by so many.

  6. Josette and family, the card parties are over and no more perms and haircuts, but the good memories are there. Liz was a kind, compassionate lady. We are so sorry for your loss. Andi and Joe Paolo

  7. Sending heartfelt sympathy to Josette, Joey and families. Liz was the best! It was always an outing for my mom (Norma) & I to go to “the shop” and get our hair done. (Usually only a cut for me and a perm and cut for my mom.) We laughed the whole time! Then Liz would keep all the girls laughing at the St. Joseph’s Guild Card Club over bridge mix and high balls! Liz was an angel, and now she laughs with the rest of the angels in heaven. Remember the good times and that she loved you all very, very much.

  8. She always had a sense of humor and was such a wonderful caring mom and Grandma. She will be remembered with love, prayers lifted for all the Familia. Lové, Patti and Joe Barnabei

  9. Aunt Lizzy…oh how we will miss you. The Magnone sisters are all together in heaven. I will cherish the time you stayed with us in Massachusetts and Patrice drove you everyday to see Joey in rehab. Your continued devotion to Joey was not easy but you never waivered. Your laughter, smile and kind words will be forever remembered. Your nephew, Patrick

  10. Sympathy from our family to your family. Liz & Joe were dear friends of the Horvath family. They all loved to play cards and take trips together. May she rest in peace with your Dad. Norma Horvath & son Danny

  11. Mrs. Nagy was a very nice and kind person. She lived in my old neighborhood on Kathleen Way. My sympathies go out to her family. God Bless, Dennis Mohoroski
