Emil ''Yikes'' Stevic

Emil “Yikes” Stevic, 81, of Colliers, WV died Sunday, February 22, 2004, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on February 18, 1923, in Youngstown, OH, the son of the late John and Julia Davich Stavich. Yikes was also preceded in death by his brother, Nicholas; and his sisters, Mildred Yanchiak and Anna Hunter. Emil retired from National Steel after 41 years of service as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Weirton Steel. He was a member of the WSX 25 Year Club and the Savages. Yikes enjoyed fishing and bowling. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Dempster Stevic, whom he married on January 31, 1947; two sons, Lt. Col Michael Eli Stevic and his wife Marlene of Andrews Air Force Base, and Timothy John Stevic of Colliers, WV; brother, Sam Stavich of Florida; sisters, Dorothy Haynes of Floral City, FL, and Kathryn Hammond of Weirton, WV; and four grandchildren, Kyle, Lindsey, Teilor, and Joshua Stevic. Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday. Rev. Wade Barto will preside. Interment will follow at Highland Hill Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
