Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Our condolences on the passing of Uncle Emmy. He was always the life of our family reunions and we remember him in a very special way. Love, Chris and Kelli Saksa

  2. Dear Cousins, We loved your father very much. He was so filled with love and fun. Uncle Emmy made us all part of his family after we lost our parents so early and we will have his memory with us forever. Thank you for sharing your father with us.

  3. Oh Uncle Emmy, I will miss you! I remember visiting Grandma Ida & Papa Doc and you would always come over for a visit as well. The first thing you would do is whistle and say “Everybody outta the pool!!” And then hugs all around. For years my brothers and I would try to copy the “Uncle Emmy whistle”. I think I finally got it when I became a lifeguard myself in college. Uncle Emmy I will always remember your energy and optimism and how you came to my wedding all the DeLuca grandchildren’s weddings and did your jump splits at the reception! I hope you continue your traditions in Heaven. You’re one in a million, we will all miss you dearly.

  4. My thoughts and prayers are with your families in this time of sadness. My memories, like my brother, come from our family reunions. He was always fun to be around and a true gentleman. Rest in peace Uncle Emmy.

  5. Thoughts and prayers at this time of passage…….Almost one hundred! He surely earned the joy of the reward.

  6. Uncle Emmy will certainly missed. We loved him dearly, as did everyone. His life and accomplishments were amazing and he touched our family in such a positive way. God Bless his family. We will never forget you Emmy. Love always.

  7. Dear Cousins, Uncle Emmy is an example to us all! He shared his secret of a happy life with us all: live, love and laugh! It would be good if we all could be more like him! May the Spirit of our loving God be with you all as you walk this path and say a temporary goodbye. Our prayes will be with you! Love, DD and Marilyn

  8. Dear cousins and family, Uncle Emmy was the man! So strong, confident, sincere, and yet incredibly kind. I remember him so well and in many ways, like giving me a haircut as a kid. I can picture him washing the car in his narrow driveway. He frequently dropped by our house, particularly after Aunt Teresa passed away. Mom & Dad loved him so much. I have a great picture of him (somewhere) sitting on our front porch holding Dad’s hand up in a victory pose. Doc was near death at the time. A very special bond between those De Luca brothers. He and Aunt Ann always stayed in touch and came to California for our wedding. I will never forget back when I was 12 playing in the Steubenville little league championships, Uncle Emmy was right up close, standing against the fence behind home plate. We were losing by 3 runs and when I came up to bat for the 2nd time after striking out the first time, Uncle Emmy was calling out to me over the crowd noise. I can hear him like it was yesterday saying, “Come on Vincent, the first pitch was a strike last time.” I swung at the first picth and hit it over the fence for a grand slam homer, thus winning the game by 1 run. It brings tears to my eyes. He was such a winner. I had hoped to visit him this summer when my 40th reunion will take place. I wish I could be at the funeral to celebrate his life with all of you. I know Uncle Emmy is making touchdowns in heaven. My best to all of you, God Bless, love Vincent De Luca

  9. Dear Rich, Bobby, & Martha and Deluca Family: What a wonderful father you all had, I can never remember ever seeing Emmy that he did not have the biggest smile on his face. He always made YOU FEEL GOOD & HAPPY to see him. He was so happy even in his later years when my mother in law was at the center I would see him at dinner of going out with some one, always the big smile. We were all so lucky to grow up together and how kind your parents were to have the parties in their family room and made all us kids feel welcome and never made us feel we made a mess or were in their way.Emmy Touched a lot of people through his never having said a bad thing about any one. God bless him and all of you, his family.

  10. Dear DeLuca Family: On Behalf of my Mother, Helen Howcroft, our thoughts are with you at this time. My Parents, Elmer and Helen often travelled with Emmy & were always able to come home with a wonderful & funny story. My father bowled many years with Emmy & enjoyed every moment of his company. When my father passed away several years ago, Emmy was the first one there to express his sympathy. My mother is currently in a care facility & unable to be thre but please know that her thoughts are with you all. I hope our Dads are bowling right now, Susan Spence

  11. Dear Dick, Bob, and Martha, My love and support go out to you and all the family as we say good bye to Uncle Emmy. He was the best Godfather anyone could have – always encouraging me, giving great hugs and smiling all the while. I remember his loving presence every day during Doc’s (my dad) last weeks of life. He gave us all such hope and comfort. After Mom and Dad died, he and Aunt Ann made sure they were at all the grandchildren’s weddings. I can still see him leading the parade at Andy and Robyn’s wedding adding his signature “split” as he marched and danced. Though I cannot be with you now, you are in my heart and prayers. I’m so grateful to have been with all of you and especially Uncle Emmy when Aunt Ann died. He is a treaure. He can say with St. Paul, “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now the crown awaits me.” Go in peace with God. Love, Sheila De Luca

  12. We will remember Uncle Emmy as a loving and unselfish man who always brought joy into every room he entered….and now, no doubt, brings that joy with him to heaven. Thank you, Uncle Emmy. The world is a better place for your having been here. Love, Mike and Marian

  14. Dear Bob, Judy and Family, We were so sorry to hear that your dad had passed away, Bob. Through your stories, we feel like we got to know Emmy over the years. He must have been a vibrant man who lived life to the fullest. More than that, though, the warmth, love and closeness you and your siblings have for each other, your families, and others tells us that he must have been a wonderful man. May you celebrate his life as you mourn his death. Love, Pam and Dwight

  15. Compare He was my godfather. He stood for me when the water poured over my brow the salt touched my lips He answered when questions of faith were asked of me He was my godfather, Compare. I will not forget.

  17. My favorite memories of Uncle Emmy were in Steubenville when he would visit Papa Doc and Grandma Ida.
