Evelyn Stasko beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2020.
Born January 13, 1920, in Pittsburgh, PA. Evelyn was a daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (Pula) Czernek. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her loving husband Albert J. Stasko, brother Leon Gabia, and sisters Sophia Rambis, Jean Irvin, and Florence Duckworth.
During WWII, Evelyn worked for Weirton Steel as a tin flopper. After her marriage, she devoted her life to her family, filling every gathering with love and laughter. Evelyn nourished her strong faith at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church where she was an active member of the Christian Mothers for many years. She belonged to several card clubs, bowling leagues, and loved to attend dances with her husband, especially Polka dances. After his retirement, they enjoyed traveling the country on bus trips with their many good friends from AARP and Four Season Senior Groups, but nothing brought her more joy than time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Albert L. (Linda) Stasko of Fort Myers, FL, daughter Nancy (Ken) Pugh of Weirton, Sister-In-Law Carol Gabia of Farmingdale, NY, grandchildren Melissa (Tadd) West of Georgia, Jennifer (Brad) Ashley of Texas, Rick Pugh of Washington, PA, Jessica (Ricco) Policastro of Weirton, and great-grandchildren Tori (Cason) Thurmond, Alex Wyant, Cole and Luke Ashley, and Owen Policastro, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on Saturday, October 10 at 11 am at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Weirton. The Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston will preside.
Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
All in attendance are asked to practice social distancing and wear a face mask.
The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Acres at Weirton Geriatric for their compassionate care.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church.
