frank marshall, jr.
Frank F. Marshall, Jr., 85, of Weirton, a man of great faith, died Friday May 21, 2010, in the Weirton Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Born June 20, 1924 in Weirton, he was a son of the late Frank F. and Stephanie Piermez Marshall, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife Jessie (Dovie) Fray Marshall on March 5, 1989, a daughter Joan (Toots) Craig, sons, Robert (Butch) Brown and Thomas Brown; brothers, Emil and Thomas Marshall. Mr. Marshall retired from Weirton Steel where he worked with Plant Security. Prior to working at Weirton Steel, he worked construction. Frank's hobbies were his love of music, and his computer. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 3734, Independent Guard Union, the Steubenville Gun and Rifle Association, and the American Radio and Relay League. A generous man, who always wanted to help others, Frank was a recipient of the Purple Heart while serving in the United States Army during World War II. Frank is survived by his son Jack (Penny) Brown of Weirton; daughters Sandy Glover and her husband Richard of Brookfield, OH, Theresa Young and her husband Lloyd of Wintersville, OH, who tenderly cared for him; daughter in Law Charlene Brown; several grandchildren, who loved him as Pap and great-grandchildren, who loved him as Big Pappy; nieces and nephews, who fondly called him Unk. Friends will be received 4 -8 PM Sunday, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where the Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 6:30 PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Monday, at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Larry Dorsch, and Frank's grandson, Reverend Father Jason Glover will preside. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.   6. We are so glad to have gotten the chance to reconnect with Uncle Frank in recent years. He got to renew his relationship with his brother Tom (my dad), before Dad became ill and passed away. Frank will be greatly missed and our sympathies are with you all.
