Freda “Joann” Rose of Weirton passed away, with her family at her side, on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Freda was born on January 29, 1935, in Morgantown, WV one of four children born to Carl and Genevieve Cunningham Lemley. On October 2, 1951, Joann married Thomas E. Rose. In their 65 years of marriage, Joann and Tom were blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Tom was a general foreman in the construction department of Weirton Steel and Joann took excellent care of their children and keeping the home spotless home. In their free time she and Tom enjoyed traveling and camping with their family at North Georgetown, OH, Erie, Pa, and down State West Virginia. In her later years, Joann loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her infant brother, Robert Wayne Lemley, step-father, Woodrow Showalter; her husband, Thomas E. Rose on August 15, 2016; and her sister, Ora Lee Lemley. She will be remembered with love by her daughters, Paula Wright and Diane Kostecki, her son, Carl Rose (Brenda); her grandchildren, Teresa Jones (Tom), Jessica Wayt (Mike), Jackie Gronsky (Brad), Jennifer Juhl, Michael Rose, and Tom Rose (Nikole Laros; her great-grandchildren, Tori and Lexi Rose and Lilianna, Lucas, and Landon Wayt. Visitation will be Wednesday 5 PM until 8 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 in the funeral home. Rev. Larry Barkley will preside. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Share tributes and memories at www.grecohertnick.com
