James E. Tingler, 80, of Weirton, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Born July 7, 1938 in Weirton, he was a son of the late Arthur and Leona Huff Tinger. He was also preceded in death by three brothers Leo, Eugene and his twin John “Jack” Tingler and two sisters Kathryn Curtis and Norma Richmond. Jim retired from Weirton Steel after 36 years of working in the blast furnace as a general turn foreman. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed hunting and golfing at Indian Run where he worked for almost 16 years. He was a member of the VFW 2716, the American Legion Post 10 and the WSX golf league. He volunteered his time as a firefighter in Weirton and was a member of the police reserves. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Donna Lee Strong Tingler; sons Keith (Jessica) Tingler of Fairmont, WV and Bryan (Linda) Tingler of Weirton; grandsons Kristopher (Nicole), Austin and Dalton Tingler; great-grandchildren Sydney, Colin and Landon Tingler; sisters Gloria McConnell of Bergholz, OH, and Sandy Hamilton of Weirton; special ex-daughter in law and his dog Toby. Friends will be received on Monday from 4-8 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11am. Chaplain George Romage will officiate. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton, with military honors being conducted by the United States Navy and the American Legion Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
