  1. Dear Jackie,Karen and Marianne, You all know how I felt about your Mom and Dad. There was a little hole in my heart when your Mom passed in 1984 and now that hole is just a little bigger. Your parents taught me the meaning of giving without asking for anything in return. During my family’s darkest days they were there for us with friendship and support and compassion. I was fortunate to be able to visit with your Dad this past summer and feel sad that the next time I knock on the door he won’t be there to open it. Another door has opened for him and I know my Dad and Mr O’Brien and Mr Miller and Mr Carey and so many others have put the beer on ice for him! I would like to share a short poem that has special meaning for me especially since my own parents have passed on. Nothing GOLD Can Stay Nature’s first color is gold Her hardest hue to hold It’s such a lovely flower… but only so for an hour Then leaf subsides to leaf, so Eden sank to grief So dawn goes down to day, NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY Always, Noel
