John Colantonio

John Colantonio, 82, formerly of Weirton, passed away April 1, 2011, at the Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, MD. He was born June 29, 1928 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Anthony Colantonio and Genieve Gallupoli Colantonio Schiappa. John was also preceded in death by a sister, Ida Littleton. With 44 years of service, John retired from the Weirton Steel Company where he was a millwright in the Sheet Mill Department. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Weirton, the 25 year club of Weirton Steel, and the Knights of Columbus 3734. He served his country in the United States Army Airborne. He is survived by his wife, Rita Palizzi Colantonio of Rockville, MD; daughters, Donna Yanjanin her husband Charles, Loretta Colantonio Jones and her husband Ken all of N. Potomac, MD; granddaughters Nicole and Vicki Yanjanin; brother Mario Colantonio of Weirton and several nieces, nephews and their families. Visitation will be Monday, April 4, 2011 from 10:00 - 12:00 noon at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph the Worker Church. The Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer will officiate. Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery, Weirton, WV, with military honors being conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
