John S. Greiner, 89, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at his home. Born February 25, 1916 in Donora, PA, he was the son of the late Mary Drazich. John was also preceded in death by his wife Mildred “Mitzi” Della Greiner on April 15, 2000, son John Jr. and sister Katy Battista. After 48 years of service, John retired from National Steel where he worked in the Tin Mill Department while also working 17 years for Ft. Steuben Metal Products in Weirton. He was a member of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church and the WSX 25-Year Club. John’s survivors include his sons Stephen Greiner and his wife Nancy of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Jon Greiner and his wife Susan of Oakdale, PA and Nick Greiner and his wife Jill of Weirton; daughters Lisa DiCarlo and her husband John of Mingo Junction, OH and Carla Greiner and her friend Mike Ovington of Weirton and grandchildren Nick Greiner, Natalie Koontz, Nicole and John DiCarlo, and John and Jacquelyn Greiner. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00PM with the Very Reverend Father Rade Merick presiding. A Pomen Service will be conducted 7:30 Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Serbian Cemetery.
