Joseph D. Tokash, 83, of Weirton, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born in Tiltonsville, Ohio on October 19, 1920, he was the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Takach. He was also preceded in death by 5 brothers, George, Mike, James, Steve and John; 3 sisters, Lizzie, Mary and Annie. Joseph’s survivors include his wife of 62 years, Alice E. Morris Tokash; two sons Joseph P. and his wife Norma and Paul and his wife Donna; two daughters Charlotte Vargo and her husband George and Elizabeth Maslowski; eight grandchildren, Tawny, P. J.and Jennifer, J. J., Mary, Danny, Katie, Alicia, Ashley; three great granchildren Tessie, Zak and Eli and 2 brothers William and Peter Tokash. With 42 years of Service, Joseph retired from National Steel. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church, the Tri-State Marines, WSX 25-Year Club and Knights of Columbus 3734. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Friday at Sacred Heart of Mary Church with Father Kent Durig presiding. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Weirton where military services will be conducted by the Weirton V.F.W. Post 2716 Firing Squad, the Evert Maki American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard and the Tri-State Marine Corps.
