Joseph William “Bud” McGrogan, 85, of Weirton, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 in Weirton Medical Center. He was born December 2, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late James Frances and Catherine Smith McGrogan. He was also preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Ann (Julian) McGrogan who died June 4, 2016; a son, Joseph W. McGrogan, Jr.; and brother, James William McGrogan. With 42 years of service, he retired from the Tin Mill Department of Weirton Steel. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church and the Midway VFW. From 1951-1953, he served in the Army Paratroopers with the 187th Airborne R.C.T. in Japan and Korea. He dedicated his life to his family and any other person in time of need. Mr. McGrogan is survived by his daughter in law Paula A. (Rocchio) McGrogan of Weirton; step-son John “Neil” Hughes of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Amber Nicole and Rachel Lauren McGrogan and Joseph Anthony and Holly Michelle Hughes; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 until 6:30 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be conducted at 6:30 PM. Rev. Fr. Harry Dunn will preside. The West Virginia National Guard and the American Legion Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors at the conclusion of the service.   2. Paula, Neil, Amber, Rachel, Joe & Holly: I am so very sorry to read the passing of Bud this morning. I am shocked. He was just in our office the end of April, laughing, joking and showing me some old photos. I will truly miss him. He loved taking about his family, his trips and especially his grandchildren.
