kurt pearson
Kurt David Pearson was born on December 23, 1950 and died on April 23, 2015 from liver failure, at his home in Wellsburg, WV. Kurt was an artist, a master cabinet-maker, a guitarist, and a thoroughly kind human being. He made friends wherever he lived. He was born in Willoughby, Ohio and moved to California when he was 12, then to Wellsburg in 2005 with a few stops in between. His life encompassed many adventures. He lived off the grid for over 20 years in Oregon, Colorado, and the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. He built several houses with his own hands including one that was designed like a covered bridge. He loved to fish and camp and garden. He was interested in medieval history and music. He had ideas about everything. He could repair musical instruments and made sick guitars sing again. He leaves behind a wife, Maggie Pearson, and two daughters, Jozi Pearson Del Angel and Sari Pearson Mayhue, two grandchildren, Zoie Del Angel and Kyle Mayhue, as well as two step-children and four step-grandchildren. Kurt liked nothing better than to converse with his friends on topics as far-ranging as how to properly barbecue a brisket to politics to the different types of glue used in woodworking. Per his instructions, there will be no services. His ashes will be scattered in the redwoods. There are times that death is a blessing and a mercy; Kurt is no longer suffering.

Guestbook

  1. I am one of Kurts’ oldest friends since we were 16, having went to high school with him in Costa Mesa, Ca. He was truly the best and kindest of men. We were always close in the years following school, and in later years, as time passed we drifted a bit, but both knew the other was only a phone call away. Kurt was always there for me, or anyone who needed him. Always ready to lend a hand or encourage. Or simply entertain. He touched many lives through his larger than life, vibrant personality, and his incredible way with words. If the was something new to try Kurt was the one to introduce it, if there were new ideas or ways of thinking, they often came first from Kurt. He was a fisher of men, though I’m not sure he knew it. Your music lives on in the hearts of those you touched, my old friend. I know you’ll have a place in my heart forever, til we meet again.

Goodbye dear friend, say hi to Bear for me, the first friend we ever lost, much too soon.
