Linda C. (Wharton) Waide, 67, of Weirton, died quietly and peacefully on December 8, 2015 at her home, surrounded by family. She was born June 26, 1948 in Parkersburg, WV, the daughter of the late Bartlett and Wilma Sams Wharton. She was the oldest of eight Wharton children and was preceded in death by her youngest sister Denise Wharton Decker. Linda was an avid reader who enjoyed her children and her grandchildren, for whom she "wanted nothing but the best". Linda always said that "she wanted to raise her kids to be the best they could be!" She professed the Christian faith and embodied the gift of hospitality, as she always made sure people knew her home was open to them. She is survived by her loving husband, Russell Waide, who devotedly cared for her throughout her life; a daughter Stacy Waide-Brown and her husband David of Weirton; a son Stephen Waide of Keyser, WV; a son Christopher Waide and his wife Brandy of Chester, WV; and a son Michael Paul Waide of Fairmont, WV. In addition to her husband and children, Linda is survived by her loving grandsons and granddaughters and her brothers Robert and Bartlett Wharton Jr., both of Weirton; sisters Susan Ireland of New Cumberland; Rebecca Pope and Cathy Krnaich of Weirton; and Karen Wearsch of Rockford, IL; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends and family are invited to gather on Friday, December 11, 2015 between 2 and 7 pm at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton with services on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11 am with the Revs. Margie Carr and Michael Waide officiating. Interment will be at Highland Hills Cemetery in Follansbee, WV. Memorial contributions in honor of Linda's memory may be made to either the Weirton Medical Center Cancer Center at 601 Colliers Way, Weirton, WV 26062 or Valley Hospice at 380 Summit Avenue, Steubenville, OH 43952.
