Marie (Hovista) Koski

Marie (Hovista) Koski, 97, of of Weirton, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 in HCR Manor Care, McMurray. Born January 15, 1914 in St. Louis, MO, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Tekla Hovista. She was also preceded in death by her husband Simon Koski; brothers William and Harry Hovista and sisters Anna Mae Cannon and Helen Holovak.
Mrs. Koski was a licensed beautician. She also was employed by Fishers Big Wheel as the Salon Department Manager. She was a member of the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Weirton.
Marie is survived by her nephew Dr. John Holovak and his wife Mary of McMurray; nieces Tillie Ann King and her husband Lewis of Industry, PA and Helen Marie Holovak of Kent, OH; great nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 11am until the 1pm funeral services at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. The Very Reverend Father Theodore Shomsky will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery, Weirton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's charity of choice.
Aunt Peggy always had a sweet disposition, and a ready smile. Her eyes were sapphire blue with a friendly twinkle. She was beautiful inside and out. She often cooked for me and sent me home with treats every time I would visit. She was fond of children, although she was childless. She also loved her dog. She gave me good advice about eating healthy and exercising daily, and I still practice those good habits today. I moved to California with my husband when our three daughters were very young, and I wish they had a chance to know her as well as I did. She was very active in her church and she Loved The Lord.
