Mary “Yiayia” Dades, 87, formerly of Weirton, now living in Bethel Park, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Friday, November 17, 2017 in Mt. Vernon of South Park. She was born July 9, 1930 in Samos, Greece, a daughter of Dimitri and Eleftheria Houmas Milonas. She was also preceded in death by her husband Anthony “Tony” Dades in 2007. Mary was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. She was a current member of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Mt. Lebanon, PA and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. Mary loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. When she was healthy she especially enjoyed cooking for the church festivals. She also enjoyed collecting icons and reading religious books about saints. She is survived by her daughter Anastasia “Stacy” (John) Popovich of Bethel Park, PA; grandchildren Anthony and Victoria “Tory” Popovich; brother Stelios Spirou of Samos, Greece; sister Madoula Bostinelos of California; nephews Dr. Costas (Patrice) Spirou, Dr. Stamati (Katerina) Spirou and George (Melody) Bostinelos and niece Ann Singas. Visitation will be held Tuesday 2-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where Trisagion service will be celebrated at 7:30pm. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 until the 11a.m. funeral service at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will follow in the All Saints Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Weirton.
