Norma Jean Gosney, 76, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 in Weirton Medical Center. She was born April 14, 1942 in Point Marion, PA, a daughter of the late Ralph and Beatrice Stafford Watkins. She was also preceded in death by her son Harold Gosney III, grandson George Anderson and brothers Ralph, James and Charles Watkins. Norma worked as a Special Education Teacher’s Aid with the Hancock County Schools and was a member of Forks of Cheat Baptist Church in Morgantown, WV. She volunteered her time at the Greater Weirton Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed arts and crafts; always creating beautiful items out of nothing. Norma could also be found at area garage sales. She was known to help anyone who needed assistance. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harold Gene Gosney of Weirton; daughter Debbie Gosney of Galivants Ferry, SC; brother John Watkins of Morgantown; sisters Nancy Connors and Mary Squires both of Morgantown and Betty (Randy) Smith of Dayton, OH; grandchildren Harold “Chip” Gosney IV; Cathy (Jimmy) Cox and Brandon (Bobbie Treadway) Anderson and great grandchildren Blaine and Alyssa Anderson and Autumn Cox. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 10 until the 11 AM funeral services at the Forks of Cheat Baptist Church, Old Stewartstown Road, Morgantown, WV. The Reverend Donald Dague will officiate. Interment will follow in Forks of Cheat Baptist Church Cemetery.     I was shocked to hear about Norma. Her passing was very unexpected and sudden.
    Even though this is a hard time, I am lucky to have so many good memories of my sister that will enable me to keep a piece of her with me.
    She will be missed – she was truly a special person. God does take the best.
