Paul Thomas Duffy Sr., 88 of Weirton passed peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Paul was a hard-working family man with strong values and a deep love for his Irish heritage. He was born on December 9, 1932, in Weirton, WV. The son of the late Constantine Paul and Freda (Grunder) Duffy. He is preceded in death by his sister Connie Jennessee and grandson Christopher Duffy. Paul was a proud graduate of Weir High School, attended West Virginia University, and served in the United States Army. He worked and retired from Weirton Steel Corporation where he served as a supervisor. He loved football and rooted for WVU, the Dallas Cowboys, Weir High School, and Madonna High School. He especially loved watching his sons, grandsons, and granddaughters play sports and never missed a sporting event where one of them were playing. He loved his family and enjoyed gathering at his home where he was always the life of the party! He stressed to all the importance of family and indulging in life’s simple pleasures- after all “We only pass this way but once,” he would say. Paul was honored to be an Eagle Scout, Past State President WV Elks, Past Exalted Ruler Weirton Elks, District Deputy WV Elks, Elks Grand Lodge Chairman. Past member of the Madonna School Board and St. Paul’s School Board, proud supporter of Madonna Athletics, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a strong faith and was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church where he served as an usher, member of the Holy Name, and he and his wife were selected for the St. Paul’s School Family Tradition Award. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Dolores Jeannie (DiGregorio) Duffy. Three sons Paul “P.T.” (Melissa) of Toronto OH, Daniel Duffy of Weirton, and Terry (Brenda) of Wellsburg. Five grandchildren Stephanie Duffy- Zimmer (Jason), Paul Duffy III (Paige), Matthew Duffy, Teirria Duffy, and Landon Duffy and three great-grandchildren Paul Duffy IV, Pate Duffy, and Lena Zimmer. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 12, at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton from 1PM until 7PM. Elks Memorial Services will be conducted at 6 PM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM on Wednesday at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Entombment will follow at Saint Paul's Cemetery with military honors conducted by the West Virginia National Guard and the American Legion Post 10 An Irish Wake will be held at The Weirton Elks following the celebration of life.   8. Mr. Duffy was a fine man from the very beginning of my life. As a student at St. Paul’s Catholic School, and at Madonna High School, he along with the other parents of Catholic School students living on Marland Heights, would rotate driving us to and from practice. Mr. Duffy was always pleasant and encouraging in our strident/athletic life. He was appreciated by all of us. For as long as I can remember Mr. Duffy was an Usher at St. Pauls Church, always a welcoming parishioners with his warm and gentle smile. He will be greatly missed by the community that he built .
