Richard Robert Yobbagy, 51, of Elkridge, Maryland, formerly Weirton, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Gilchrist Hospice Care, Columbia, MD. Born August 29, 1965 in Weirton, he was a son of Richard E. Yobbagy and Wanda F. (Thompson) Recht. Richard graduated from Weir High in 1983. He worked as a truck driver for GreenDrop in Maryland. He enjoyed fishing with his son and social media. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son Richard R. Yobbagy Jr., of Elkridge, Maryland and brother Jay M. (Amy) Yobbagy of Weirton. Friends will be received on Monday from 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 12:00PM. Pastor Carol McKay will officiate. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.   2. My hearfilled thoughts and prayers go out to the Yobaggy family in this hour. Richard and I were both in the Weir High Band together and graduated together in 1983. While I was mobilized in 2003-2005 and 2009, we kept in contact thru facebook and would keep in touch that way. He will be very missed in our band brothers as we were called. Brady, Tim, Bobby and Darren were always considered my band brothers and Richard was a great trumpet player. TAPS will be playing in your honor my brother.

  5. I was very sad to hear of Rich’s passing. We were in band together at Weir High (class of “83”) and WVU. Rich was a kind, sweet, funny person and I’m grateful to have known him. My condolences to the Yobaggy family. He will be missed.
