Robert Lee Chalfant

Robert Lee Chalfant, 86, of Weirton, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012.
Born on March 9, 1925, in Fayette City, PA, Robert was a son of the late Hugh and Jean (Legg) Chalfant. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, William and Dewey Chalfant.
Robert retired after 30 years of service from Cattrell Motors in Weirton. Before joining Cattrell Motors, Robert worked at his family business, Chalfant Buick in Wellsburg, WV, and their used car sales in Weirton.
He served his country during World War II, as a pilot in the United States Army Air Force.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Robert attended Law School at Temple University. He enjoyed playing guitar, sailing on boats, and flying airplanes.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Mandarino) Chalfant, whom he married on May 15, 1948; two sons, Jeff and Daniel (Roxanna) Chalfant; a daughter, Linda Chalfant (Lynn); two sisters, Isabelle Metzger, and Jean Vastartis; four grandchildren, Ryan Reagan (Christina), Alana Evans (Christopher), Hannah and Andrew Chalfant; four great grandchildren, Ava and Luke Reagan, and Claire and Issac Evans.
In honoring Mr. Chalfant's request there will be no visitation.
A private gathering of his family will be held to celebrate his life.

So sorry to hear about Bob..I worked at Cattrell Motors with Bob for about 25 years. The picture in the obituary shows his special personality. He could make you mad one minute and have you laughing so hard the next…he was one of a kind….I was so glad he came to our 10 year reunion dinner…Please accept deepest sympathy.

Bob was a good friend and the great storyteller in the Cattrell Motor family. He was always honest with people and was a friend to everyone. A great salesman. He will be missed.
Danny, I was so sorry reading today’s paper and seeing your father’s obituary in it. You were always a great friend and I can still remember the good times we had growing up. I would like to see you if have the opportunity while you are in town. I know that you are going by your father’s wishes and not having a viewing. Your dad was a good and honest man. Dear Jeff, Linda and Danny, I was sadden to hear about the passing of you dad. I always liked him, though he tended to scare me when I was a kid (Ha!). He seemed to always have a cigar in his mouth and a fixed, stern jaw…but there was kindness in his eyes. I’m sure he will be missed. Please give my condolences to your mom and may you all find peace.

I had the pleasure meeting Lee about two years ago. My mom Josie was his caregiver. I loved seeing Lee and Teresa together, It was unconditional and undying love. my mom adores them both and is deeply saddened by Lee’s passing. She loved them and cared for them as if they we her second set of parents. The love was warmly returned as Lee and Theresa made her a part of the family. The city of Weirton lost a great man. I pray for the family and ask that God bring them all comfort. Rest in Peace Lee may GODS MIGHTY HAND pull you near as you wait the arrival of those yet to follow. Lee I love you so much and I will miss you always. The time spent with you was a learing and loving experience. Your life stories we captivating and intreguing. Our time together was never long enough for both of us. i looked forward to seeing your smiling face each day I walked through the door. The hugs you gave me brought me comfort even in the most trying times. You gave me hope and and understanding where life would put obsticals in my way. I will never forget the man whom I proudly called PaPa I love you always and I will see you on the otherside.
