robert bonacci
Robert Myer Bonacci of Weirton passed away at the Weirton Medical Center following a brief illness on December 26, 2021. He was 83 years old. He was born in Steubenville, OH., on December 8, 1938, the son of the late Angelo and Catrina Mancini Bonacci. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Weir High and a proud member of their marching band. He nourished his faith at Saint Paul’s Church and retired from Weirton Steel after thirty-seven years. A member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, one of his favorite things to tell people is that he bundled coils in the Tin Mill. Everyone who knew Bob knew that he loved Weirton. He was a friend to many and always willing to lend a helping hand. His sons tell how their father enjoyed helping them with their homes. He could fix anything, a jack of all trades. He gave good advice and always listened to people, never forcing his opinions. Bob was very active and enjoyed bowling at Steel Valley Lanes, fishing throughout the area, and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU Mountaineers. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Marie Bonacci, second wife Shirley Bonacci, and brother Sam Bonacci. Left in admiration and love are his sons Bob (Mary) Bonacci of Abingdon, MD., Allen ( Jane) Hercules of Lawrenceville, GA., David Hercules of Hagerstown, MD., grandchildren Ava Rose, Christopher, Nicole, Jacob, and Kathleen. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton WV, where services will be held Friday, at 11 AM. The Reverend Father Babu Joseph Elamturuthil will officiate. Interment will be in Saint Paul Cemetery. Mr. Bonacci's family has requested masks be worn during Bob's visitation and service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to the Hancock County Animal Shelter, 715 Gas Valley Road, New Cumberland, WV 26047. Share tributes at grecohertnick.com
