Ronald G. Sekersky of Weirton , WV, died on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his home. Born on September 19, 1937, in McKees Rocks, PA, Ron was a son of the late Walter and Pauline (Chylek) Sekersky. Ron is survived by his wife Jo Ann (Dalmasso) Sekersky, whom he married on November 3, 1962, a daughter, Renee (Jonathan) Zung of Raleigh, NC; a son, Rick of Parker Colorado; his three grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Zung, and Carson Sekersky; and a brother, Kenneth Sekersky of Carnegie, PA. Amongst his greatest loves besides his wife who he called "Bright Eyes" were his children and grandchildren. He donated many grateful hours tutoring students in math. He always said it was his gift to God for all the many prayers during his illnesses. Ron was chosen as a "Community Star" and most recently was inducted into the Weirton Madonna Hall of Fame for all his years of helping area students. Ron retired from Weirton Steel as Director of Engineering with 45 years of service. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology, and his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. He received many certifications from the Business Departments of Pitt University and McMaster University in Canada. Ron was an active member at Saint Joseph the Worker Church as a Eucharistic Minister, a past member and chairman of the Pastoral Council, treasurer and president of the Holy Name Society. On the Diocesan side, Ron was involved in the WV Ninth Synod and served on the Wheeling Vicariate Council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3734 where he served as Grand Knight, Trustee and Financial Secretary. He was also a member of the Fourth Degree Assembly 1194, where he served as a Color Guard Member, Faithful Admiral, First Faithful Navigator, Faithful Scribe and Trustee. Ron was a corporate board member of the Weirton Medical Center, past president of the Hancock County American Cancer Society and Memorial Chairman. He served as president of the Weirton Area Junior Achievement and was a member of the Hancock County Sheltered Workshop Board of Directors. Ron was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and Management Club. Professionally Ron was an active member of the Iron and Steel Engineering Society, where he served as chairman. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 7th from 4-8 PM at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Thursday, September 8th at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. The Fourth Degree Assembly will stand honor guard. Rev. Fr. Dennis Schuelkens, Jr. will preside. Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery Weirton, WV.   6. JoAnn & family, I am saddened to read of Ron’s passing. I have missed him dropping by our office to see how we were doing and to chat. The last time he was in, he brought some architect magazines for Tommy and told me that he wasn’t feeling very good. We have kept him in our prayers and will continue to do so. I will miss him, his smile, his math problems & the time we shared together. He was an outstanding man who was always thinking of others. God grant him peace.

  7. In this unsettled world filled with craziness, Ron represented what God meant people to be. He truly lived the saying “faith, family, friends” in his daily life. We feel honored that he touched our lives. How wonderful that he isn’t sick anymore! .

  9. Ron was unique among men. He suffered thru’ many illnesses and manage to overcome them and come out smiling. Despite his many medical problems he conti nued to serve his family, his church and his community untiringly. He was one of the best!

  11. It is an Honor to know Ron and his entire family. My family extends all of its prayers and love to the Sekersky family during this time of grieving and remembrance. I regret not seeing Ron during the last few years, and am sorry I couldn’t say a proper goodbye. I am sure I would have enjoyed a recap the weekly football games. I certainly know that he will now be watching from the big screen up in the sky. We will miss you!

  13. Dear Joanne. I have no words. Other then. Ron. Was my superman !!!! Always had a smile on his face and Never complained about his pain. I ll never forget doing smile Sundays those few times for the both of you when I could. You two are a beautiful couple. And he’s always going to be with you. A kind and gentle soul. I remember him being the knight at my dad’s Funeral. Always stood so proud and honerable. He’s definitely going to be missed and I know it’s going to be hard on you .   15. My deepest sympathy to Ronald’s family. Not only did he and I attend Stowe High School together, we attended school together from First Grade at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in McKees Rocks until graduating there in Eighth Grade. I remember also his brother Kenneth, who was a few years behind us in school. Our families were church friends (Hvostal)for as long as I can remember. Prayers being sent up for all. God bless.

  18. Joann, It was with sorry that we learned of Ron’s passing. He was a fine man- and excellent example of Christian Living. We will miss his ready smile and “Good Morning” in church every Sunday for as long as I can remember. He loved you very much , and his living proof of the marriage sacrament was a shining example to all of us. I am sure the Lord greeted him with, “Welcome my good and faithful servant!”

  21. I met Ron when I served under him on SJW Parish Council. What an honor. I witnessed him, over the years, serving the parish with such a servant’s heart. His beautiful smile touched my heart, I admired his courage, and I am grateful that I knew this man of God. Jo Ann, you were always at his side–a witness of a Godly couple.
