Saverio Joseph "Sam" Veltri, 44, of Weirton passed away Sunday October 10, 2010, at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Sam was born on December 11, 1965, in Weirton, WV, a son of Giuseppe and Maria Pulice Veltri of Weirton, WV.
An ASE Certified Mechanic, Sam was a manager for Midas Muffler for 22 years, before joining the management team at Monro Muffler, where he was presently working in Robinson Township. He also was a Canadian Certified Mig Welder, and was employed with Steel Builders.
He loved motorcycle riding, restoring cars, attending family gatherings, traveling and spending time with his wife, daughters and his dog "Jewlia".
Sam was a member of the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.
In addition to his parents, Sam is survived by his wife, Tara (Lewis) Veltri, whom he married on February 14, 2004, two daughters, Tia Annmarie Veltri and Alicia Colleen Veltri; two step daughters, Ashley Stanak and Lacy Zellars; a brother, Frank Veltri all of Weirton, WV; two sisters, Anna (Jim) Johns of Murrysville, PA and Rosa (John) Hooper of Burgettstown, PA; two nephews, Brant Veltri and Nicholas Hooper and niece Gianna Hooper.
Visitation will be Friday 5-9PM at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Saturday at the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, WV.

Sammy will be missed,he was a great friend and coworker. He was the hardest working man i’ve met, even with the long days he worked he made time to be a great family man and a great friend,I’m gonna miss ya My Man.

Words cannot express how saddened I was to have heard of Sammy’s passing. Despite having lost touch over the years, I will always have the memories of our childhood growing up together on South Circle Drive. I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Sam Veltri. We were classmates at Madonna freshman year and I knew him as a great guy. I hope someday that peace can be found by his family and friends. RIP Sam.

Carl and I are so very sorry to have to see our “special neighbors” go through such a tragic time in they’re life. We never expect anything like this to ever have to happen in our lifetime. Sammy was a very energetic boy, who always would lend a hand if someone needed his help. We have watched him grow from a little boy to a young man, and can say that we’re truly blessed to have know him. It’s been a long time, but as long as i can remember, Sammy could always find a way to make us laugh, or just make us smile. He was the nicest man i knew, and sometimes we’d all get mad at each other, we got over it. We were the best family any one could ever ask for. I always enjoyed spending time with Sammy & riding the motorcycle, although i was scared of it. It been a long hard 8 months. R.I.P Sammy. *gone But not forgotten*
