Virginia Zagan, 85, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010, after a courageous battle with parkinson's disease. Born October 31, 1925 in Beech Bottom, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Pauline Borza Bogdan. She was also preceded in death by her husband Earl Zagan on November 5, 2009, brothers Charles and John Bogdan and niece Linda Quesenberry. For 33 years, Mrs. Zagan worked for the City of Weirton, having served as Executive Secretary for former Mayor Tom Millsop through the term of Mayor Don Mentzer. An avid bridge player, Virginia enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband, Earl. She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Weir High Class of 1943, 52 year member of the Tea Rose Twig of Weirton Medical Center, former member of the Weirton Woman's Club and Junior Woman's Club. Mrs. Zagan is survived by her sister in law Minnie Bogdan of Imperial, PA; brother in law John Zagan, Jr. of Canton, OH; nieces and nephews Paulette and Bill Galiotos of Imperial, PA, Darlene and Jim Fliger of Bolivar, OH, John Zagan III and Cynthia Nagy of Columbus, OH; great nieces and nephews, Kathy Fliger and her fianc , Michael Shoffner, April Hickle, Desa Quesenberry, Karilynn Galiotos, Adam (Lacy) Fliger, Andrew (Lanette) Fliger, Charlie May and Bill Galiotos and great-great nieces Alexis Fliger and Layna Hickle; Godchildren, Michael and Melanie Baly; caregivers, Nancy, Nila, Peggy, Shari, Melissa, and Betty. Friends will be received Friday 2-7pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 11am Saturday. The Very Reverend Father Theodore Shomsky will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
