Alex Chuma

Alex Chuma, 89, of Weirton, died Tuesday, October 22, 2002, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born July 15, 1913 in Braddock, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Alex and Mary Bacha Chuma. Alex was also preceded in death by his brother, Nick; and three sisters, Mary Dishauzi, Anna Andochik and Sophia Pryor. After 45 years of service, Alex retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a tubman. He was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, the St. Nicholas Men’s Club, AARP and the Three Score Seniors. Alex is survived by his wife Pauline Glover Chuma whom he married on September 28, 1935; two sons, Paul Chuma, Sr. of Elk Gove Village, Illinois and Larry Chuma of Cincinnati, Ohio; his sister Mrs. Pete (Stella) Wolfe of Weirton; two grandchildren, Paul Chuma, Jr. of Buffalo Grove, IL and Mrs. Todd (Deborah) Applegate of Noblesville, Indiana; 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2002 from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. A parastas service will be held Thursday evening in the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held Friday 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM at the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Weirton. The Very Reverend Theodore Shomsky will preside. Interment will follow at the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery in Weirton.
