Anita Ann Lashhorn, 79, of Weirton died Wednesday January 11, 2006 at the Palliative Care Unit of Valley Hospice in Steubenville, OH. She was born on July 22, 1926 in Weirton, WV, the daughter of the late John and Mavra Savastone Kryaninko, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Anastasia Podolak, Priscilla Setlak Heilman, and Mary Gromicko. Anita was the Executive Director for the Hancock County Unit of the American Cancer Society for eight years. She then became Executive Director for the American Red Cross in Weirton, where she served for 29 years before her retirement. She was a member of the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Weirton, Altar Society, AARP, and the Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Weirton Business and Professional Women’s Club. She is survived by her husband, Herbert E. Lashhorn, Sr.; two sons, Herbert E. Lashhorn, Jr. and his wife Judith, David Lashhorn and his wife Jody all of Weirton, WV; a daughter, Sandra J. Yeske and her husband Bob of Bloomingdale, OH; a brother, John Kryaninko, Jr. of Weirton, WV; five grandchildren, Veronica and Joshua Yeske, Danny, Steven, and Christina Lashhorn; two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Katlynn. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where Parastas services will be held at 8:30 PM. Additional visitation will be held 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11 AM Saturday at the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church, Weirton. Interment will follow at the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church 604 Colliers Way Weirton, WV 26062.   3. Herb and family, I am sorry to hear of your loss. She was my beloved friend and I owe her everything even my present job as swim instructor. I worked on Red Cross Board with her for many years and she was not only one of the kindest people I ever met but kept our Red Cross chapter alive for many years. What a wonderful person she was. I will always treasure my memories with her. I only wish I had time to see her whe I returned to my class reunion last August.
