Anthony Paul Schultz, 57, of Groveport, Ohio peacefully passed away at home on April 13, 2026. He was born July 6, 1968, to Paul Schultz and Mary Ann (Moskal) Schultz in Weirton, WV. Anthony and Tammara (Tammy) Schultz were married in Columbus, Ohio on May 19, 1996. Anthony was a longtime member of St. Gregory of Nyssa Orthodox Church where he held several Council roles, as well as a member of the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America where he held the position of Sports Director for many years. Anthony graduated from West Liberty University (formerly known as West Liberty State College) in West Virginia, where he was a member of Gamma Sigma Tau and returned to spend Homecoming Weekend with his fraternity brothers each fall.
He took extraordinary pride in caring for his yard and had a passion for sports. A devoted Columbus Blue Jackets fan, Anthony enjoyed attending team events and sharing season tickets with his daughter, Elexis. A proud girl dad, Elexis shared his interest in hockey and baseball while his daughter, Kendall matched his love of football and basketball – though they rarely agreed on a team. His enthusiasm for golf and soccer, however, was mostly enjoyed on his own.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Schultz, and daughters Kendall Sauner and Elexis Schultz, his siblings Paula (Jimmy) Exler, Patricia Schultz, John (Sonia) Schultz, Michael (Airry) Schultz, and his in-laws Butch and Doris Russell. Anthony also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Natasha Exler, Alexandra (Anthony) Granzianis, Samantha Exler, Sarah Schultz, John Schultz Jr., and Joshua Schultz, in addition to many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Ann (Moskal) Schultz, and mother-in-law, Betty Jane Russell.
Visitation hours will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, from 4:00-7:00pm at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home. A visitation hour will also be held Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 9:00-10:00am at St. Gregory of Nyssa Orthodox Church. The funeral will begin at 10:00am, followed by procession and interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Lewis Center, Ohio.
A Panikihida/Memorial Service will be held 10 AM Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church 604 Colliers Way, Weirton, WV.

I have many fond memories with Anthony and your family over the years. You have such a beautiful family bond, and I know that Anthony’s loss will leave a gap.

Dear Tammy,
May Anthony’s memory be eternal! Our hearts break. I can still remember the first few times the two of you came to St. Gregory’s and you stood off to the side. That did not last long, as Anthony quickly became a part of the fiber of St. Greg’s. Anthony gave of himself in so many ways, quietly, diligently, and faithfully. He was there whenever anything needed to be done. Most importantly, he was a true example of being an Orthodox Christian. “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.” John 14:27
