Bernard E. Chipps, 77, of Weirton, died Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born December 8, 1927 in Salem, WV, a son of the late Edwin R. and Thelma (Hutson) Chipps. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. (Anderson) Chipps and one son, Jerry Lee Chipps. Bernard retired with 40 years of service as a Battery Foreman in the Weirton Steel Coke Plant. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, Weirton Lodge #171 AF & AM, and Weirton Community Radio Watch. Bernard was also a volunteer fireman for the old Weirton Company II Volunteer Fire Department. Bernard is survived by one son, Terry E. Chipps and his wife Patty of New Manchester, WV; one daughter, Joyce Keister and her husband Randall of Weirton; his companion, Jean Freeland of Paris, PA; sister, Betty Chipps Tenaglio of Weirton; two nephews, Skip Tenaglio of Weirton and Ron Tenaglio of Frostburg, MD; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1-4 and 6-9 PM Monday at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday. Rev. Patty Beagle and Rev. Betty Shaw will preside. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
