Bernice B. Kolanko, 82, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, July 05, 2007, at the Weirton Geriatric Center. Born October 28, 1924 in Weirton, she was the daughter of the late John and Sophie Stoy Marut. She was also preceded in death by her brother Anthony Marut, sister, Pauline Doorley; grandson, Charles Kolanko; and an infant brother and sister. Bernice was a homemaker, a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where she was the first Eucharistic Minister. She was also active in the Christian Mothers, Rosary Society, Ministry of Praise and served on the Diocesan Deanery Council. Bernice volunteered countless hours for Pro Life Organizations. Bernice’s survivors include her husband Edward J. Kolanko of Weirton; three sons, Dr. William E. Kolanko, and his wife Cynthia of Greyslake, IL, Dr. Vincent P. Kolanko, and his wife Dody of Morgantown, WV, and Dr. Christopher J. Kolanko, and his wife Donna of Morgantown, WV; daughter, Dr. Kathrine M. Kolanko and her husband Roger Gall of New Cumberland, WV; sister, Anna Gulick of Weirton; seven grandchildren, Joshua and his wife Stephanie Kolanko, Rachel, Daniel, Kylie, John, Anthony, and Colton Kolanko; three great-grandchildren, Mishaela, Kayla, and Catherine Kolanko. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Saturday, and 1-3 and 6-8 PM Sunday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer officiating. Entombment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.   10. Dear Friends, My eldest sister, Yvonne, called me as soon as she heard of your mother’s death when she attended Mass at SHM. Immediately many wonderful thoughts and memories of your mother came to mind. Her faith and devotion were tremendous! She was a fantastic Eucharistic Minister to the Sick and Homebound. Your care for her over these recent years is a shining testimony of your stance for the dignity of all human life, no matter how seemingly frail. God has welcomed her to Heaven!
