Betty Ruth Stevenson

Betty Ruth Stevenson passed away under the caring and watchful eyes of the staff at the Weirton Geriatric Center on Thursday, April 29, 2021; she was 96 years old. On July 21, 1924, she was born in Steubenville to Donald and Helen (Osborn) Davidson. She married William A. Stevenson on October 5, 1942. William passed away on February 4, 1989. Many of Betty’s friends enjoyed spending time with her as a member of her senior citizen group from Toronto. She enjoyed traveling with them and was always willing to venture somewhere new. A member of the 1942 graduation class of Steubenville High School, she spent many years employed by the personnel department at the former Ohio Valley Hospital and many countless hours volunteering at Trinity West. Betty never was truly alone after the passing of her husband, her beloved cat Lucy was her faithful companion staying by her side and not allowing anyone to get very close. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy McNeal. Betty will be remembered with love by her children, William D. Stevenson of Wintersville, Caron K. Stevenson of Steubenville, and Peggy S. Corbett of Clearwater, FL. Additionally, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive her. The family’s request for cremation has been honored. Respecting Betty’s wishes, no memorial service will be conducted. The Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, has been entrusted to care for Mrs. Stevenson.
