Catherine “Kay” Vidich of Weirton passed away after a lengthy illness at the Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester, WV., on Monday, January 9, 2023. She was ninety-seven years old.

Catherine was born in Weirton on November 30, 1925, one of five children born to George and Mary Brewer Sheotes.

Catherine was a member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church and a graduate of Weir High School. She retired from the former Weirton General Hospital as a dietary supervisor after twenty-eight years of service.

In her spare time, she associated herself with the “Red Hats,” The Weirton Kolo, the VFW Auxiliary, traveling with her family to visit other family members, and no matter what the circumstance, she and her husband Milan would never miss a performance of the Pittsburgh Symphony, she loved Heinz Hall!

Kay’s grandchildren were her world and she enjoyed countless hours with them, she was blessed with two grand and four great-grand who lovingly called her, “GG.”

In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her husband Milan Vidich, son David Vidich, brothers William and Henry Shoetes, brother-in-law Stanley Stanar and sister Dorothy Truax.

Remembering her fondly with complete love and admiration are her daughter Kathy Jo (William) Link of Weirton, grandchildren Jesse (Trisha) and Dustin (Karen) Link, and great-grandchildren, Aster, Violet, Oliver, and Ozzy Link, and sister Vierma Stanar, and her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 13, at Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, 528 N. 4th Street, Steubenville at 10 am until the time of the 11 am funeral service.

Very Reverend Stavrophor Rajko Kosic will preside.

She will be buried next to her husband Milan in Union Cemetery.
