Charles William Travis, 61, of Weirton passed away Tuesday July 8, 2014, at the Weirton Medical Center.
Born May 30, 1953, in Louisville, KY, Charles was a son of the late Paul T. and Hattie M. Pollom Travis. He was also preceded in death by his son, William Allan Travis on May 31, 2004; and a sister, Barbara Travis.
An Air Force veteran, Charles retired from Weirton Steel after 28 years of Service as a Reel Man in the Tin Mill Department. He volunteered his time as a Bell Ringer for the Weirton Salvation Army.
He was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic and the Holy Name.
He is survived by his son, Charles Michael and Kim Travis of Weirton, WV; his special friend, Alberta Chesney of Toronto, OH; his granddaughter, December Baldwin - Travis of Weirton, WV.
Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 &7-9 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 12 noon.
Interment will follow at Saint Paul's Cemetery, Weirton, WV with military services conducted by American Legion Honor Guard.

Although I don’t know Charles’ family, I wanted to share my condolences with you. I was the coordinator of The Table the first year we existed, and Charles was a faithful volunteer. He was and will continued to be missed at The Table. We enjoyed his presence and appreciated all of his help. My deepest sympathies to his family.
Words will never be able to describe how much Charles (known to most as Chuck or Charlie) will be missed by his beloved family,friends, and everyone who he came in contact with. He was a devoted father, grandfather, friend,companion,and a Christian who spent his life trying to make the world a better place in his own special way and anyone who even remotely knew him can safely say that he accomplished exactly that.
His easing presence,generous heart, and warm smile will be remembered forever. May God bless the home of Charles,Kim, & December by bringing them piece and comfort in this saddest of times as well as provide comfort for all of us who knew and loved him.
Chuck always made everyone who came to his home feel warm and welcome as if he had known them all of his life,He always put others first and wanted to help everyone even when he wasn’t in the position to do so.That was the code he lived by,always helping and caring for others.He was truly the genuine article.I could go on for hours.
Thank you for over two decades of friendship,memories,smiles. and always being there for me in good times,bad times and everything in between.I will never forget you and keep you in my heart forever. Until we meet again..Rest peacefully with the Lord and keep an eye on us down here. I Love You Chuck.
