Colleen Renee Casey Shaw, 61, of Burgettstown, Pa., died October 20, 2017, after a sudden illness. Born on January 7, 1956, in Weirton, WV, Colleen was the daughter of the late Charles and Betty Trippett Casey. She was also preceded in death by her sister Shauna Casey, and her granddaughter, Sophia Palavis. A graduate of Point Park University, Colleen was the co-owner and dance instructor of Casey Sisters Dance Academy in Weirton for 43 years. She touched thousands of area students and was a positive influence in many aspects of their lives. Colleen was an active member of Cove Presbyterian Church in Weirton, where she served as a Deacon and an Elder. She was also a member of the Dance Educators of America. In addition to her love of teaching dance, she enjoyed attending Pittsburgh Pirate games, snow skiing, water skiing, and the beach. Colleen’s grandchildren were her pride and joy and spending time with them meant the world to her. She is survived by her husband Archie Ray “Butch” Shaw, whom she married on February 14, 1981; three sons, Craig and Nicole Shaw of Alliance, Ohio, Ryan and Marisa Shaw of Weirton, WV, and Eric Shaw and his fiance, Kristen Seward, of Chicago, IL; a step daughter, Kristen and Anthony Palavis of Weirton, WV; a brother, Terry and Debbie Casey of Weirton, WV and two sisters, Mitzie and Frank Bradley of Burgettstown, PA, and Brenda Casey of Follansbee, WV; grandchildren, Kiara, Melia, and Nikos Palavis; Owen, Ellee, Connor, and Carter Shaw; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday 3-8 pm at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday 11 am until the time of funeral services at 12 pm at Cove Presbyterian Church, 3404 Main Street Weirton, WV. Rev. Dr. Ed Rudiger will preside. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.   4. Colleen has always held a special place in my heart. As I reflect upon our season of life when we were inseparable, I give thanks for the blessing to have known her as a dear friend. With a very heavy heart, I send my sympathy and prayers for God to comfort all who loved her and will forever miss her.

  7. I still am at a loss for words , Tough Love she gave me and I Thank her for that. I was a part of her acro-ettes and enjoyed every minute of it!   12. Dear Butch and Family, we cannot express our deepest sympathy over the tragic sudden death of Colleen. She was a beautiful, caring, giving person.Way back in high school she was friendly with everyone. She never had an attitude and was always kind. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding and i’ll never forget the fun we had, we were so young . We did not keep in contact over the years, but it was always nice to run into her and catch up. Her smile was radiant and lit up a room when she walked in. Butch and family there are no words that can take away the loss of losing one so very dear. You are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. I watched her grow into a beautiful woman and a very talented dancer! My heart aches for you both and the entire family. Colleen was very special and I know that she touched so many lives.
