danny minor
Danny Minor of Weirton went to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Weirton Medical Center; he was 76 years old. Danny was born March 9, 1944, in Urichsville, OH., the son of the late Charles and Beulah Staneart Minor. He was also preceded in death by his wife Sherrie Lynn Minor on June 20, 2017, and his sister, Judy Miller. Danny worked for the former Weirton Steel Corporation for thirty years, retiring as a security guard. He was well-versed in law enforcement, spending a combined ten years with the City of Weirton Police Department and the Hancock Sheriff’s office. Additionally, he enjoyed working for the County of Hancock as a bailiff in the court system, receiving his appointment by former Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher. Without a doubt, his most immense joy throughout his life was spending time with his wife Sherrie spreading the good news of Christ over fifty years through their music ministry. His commitment to his sacred calling allowed him to perform his duties as chaplain of the Weirton Police graciously. He was known to all as a very “nice guy.” He spent some of his spare time on the golf course, and if not playing golf, he was watching tournaments on television. He was a Christian by faith, attending and graduating from the Urichsville, Ohio School System, and was a proud member of the United States Army. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Dan (Chris), Minor of Fleetwood, NC., daughter, Michelan (Mark) Valentine of Weirton, grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Valentine, Chandler Stone, and Brittany (Michael) Brown. Private services will be conducted at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Pastor James Foglio of the Weirton Covenant Church will officiate. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Share tributes and memories at www.grecohertnick.com 304-748-3219.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Every time Danny and Sherrie and I would get together we would always sing. All 3 of us loved singing songs about the Lord. Some day we will all sing around the throne together along with our parents and his sister.

  2. I am so sorry to hear of Danny’s passing on December 17th, which coincidentally, would have been my Dad’s 101st birthday. At the 50th reunion of the Weir High class of ’65 in 2015, I was fortunate to be Danny’s playing partner in the golf tournament. Together with Eddie and Stevie, Danny and I had a wonderful day chasing the little white ball around the beautiful Williams Country Club course. I will miss being granted the honor of sharing another such day with Mr. Minor. Thank you, Danny’s family, for that lasting memory. May you have peace in your hearts. With Sincere Sympathy, Ron Varney

  3. Danny was my first cousin, he was like a brother to me and he was a best friend. Distance separated us, but our special bond was strong and we stayed in touch over 60+ years, coast to coast. We played “tag” when we were kids and played it til the end. I think he owed me a few more “its” when he left. My heart aches and I will miss him so much and our many conversations. He always commented on the mountain I take a lot of photos of here in California. This was my most current one. Kinda of appropriate. The sun might have set on Danny’s life, but the warmth he gave will be with us forever. He and Sherrie with my mom and “his” mountain.

  4. My deepest sympathy to the both of you for the loss of your father. Danny was always a very close cousin and we were looking forward to being able to get together again for lunch. This has been very hard on all his relatives. He was a great guy, one of a kind.
