Darlene K Taylor, 71, of Weirton, formerly of Colliers, WV passed away on Saturday December 18, 2016, in the Weirton Geriatric Center where she resided since March 2010. Born on August 10, 1945 in Weirton, WV, Darlene was a daughter of the late Homer and Ruth Freeman Rhodes. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Louise Monezis and Charlotte Ann Gardner. Darlene was formerly employed part time at K Mart and the former DeCaria's Market of Weirton, but most of all she cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Baking, cooking, sewing, quilting, cleaning, and caring for her grandchildren were the things she enjoyed the most. She was a member of the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene. Darlene is survived by her husband, Gary Randles Taylor, whom she married on April 23, 1966; her son, Brian Taylor (Rose) of Colliers, WV; her daughters, Lori Hunt (James) of Fredericktown, OH and Lisa Taylor (Jay Mills) of Weirton, WV; a brother, Charles Homer Rhodes (Charlene) of Toronto, OH; a sister, Edith Williams of Texas; grandchildren, Justin Taylor Hunt, Mariah Dawn Mills, and Ryan Matteo Taylor; great grandson, Preston Riley Hunt. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday. Rev. Larry Barkley will preside. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Weirton, WV Darlene's family would like to thank the Weirton Geriatric Center 2nd floor and Dr. A. Khurana for all their love and care that they provided to her and Gary throughout the years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Foundation, Weirton First Church of the Nazarene or the Weirton Geriatric Center.
